Uncertainty is Killing Me

They thought I was drunk.
Yes I was.
I still am.

They thought I didn't mean it.
I didn't.

But here I am.
Standing here alone.
In this uncertainty.

Let me know.
Where are we going.
Or, therefore, we should just end it.

Please.
No more question.
I'm sick of 'em.

Ade Putri for El Presidente

The election is going to be held sometimes soon in this year. I'm not really up to date about the exact time. Anyway, all the promotional banners are like everywhere. I mean, really, every-where! When I was still in Bali early January, and we went riding to small villages, I found so many, soooooooo many, banners. Every legislative candidate is trying to get everyone's attention so they can be elected.

So, instead of being in a legislative, I want to promote myself as the President. And here are some of the reasons I'd love you all to know;

1.
I laugh too much. My life's just too fukken wonderful.
I need o be stressed a bit, just for fun.

2.
I can't keep a secret. Most likely I'll tell anything to my boyfriend. Or sometimes to my girl friends. Sometimes to my mom. And sometimes to all the neighbors.

Hey, most people says they're good at keeping secret. They lied to you by saying that they would keep it a secret. But somehow, when they meet other people, they would say, "Ssssh, it's really a secret. You can't tell anyone. She is actually bla bla bla. Isn't it crazy?" Well, at least I don't lie.

3.
Most of my friends are totally insane. I will definitely promote them as the ministers. Any kind of it.
Stupidos minister. Fashion minister. Hedonism minister. Liar minister. Tie-dye minister. Glitter minister. Noodle minister. Whatever you want, I can make it happen. Just for you - as long as you're happy. Dang!

4.
I drink ice cold chocolate milk. Twice a day.

5.
I can and I love make silly poses. I'm pretty famous for that.

6.
I can make some treats for all of you that would vote for me.

There are actually several other reasons that I believe can convince you enough to vote me. But, errrr... Why don't I let you know sometimes later when I have more time?
As I've told you earlier, I write for my own pleasure. So... Mind you? :D

Condolence: For The Loss of A Best Friend

it was meant to be a charity show

then in became a show for the loving memory...

It's been more than a month after his death, January 17, 2009. Now, please allow me to write something to him, my dearest best friend.

Robin Hut Boy Atur Hutagaol
(September 8, 1973 - January 17, 2009)

He was born named Robin Hut Boy Atur Hutagaol. But most people know him as Robin Hutagaol, a.k.a. Robin Ish-kabible, a.k.a. Robin Noxa. Ish-kabible is a small shop of piercing & music merchandise. He owned the shop, with a big help of his life-time assistant and best friend, Joni. He was also in Noxa, a noxious grindcore band, as the drummer. And in between 2003 to 2005, I was involved in the band as their manager. Somehow, I considered our relationship was more into the friendship than the business itself. I spent many Saturday nights with him and some fellas, drinking boozes and laughin' together, watching girls (not me!) in malls, etc. Wing Dome in Citos was the place I hung out the most at that time.

Robin was a professional piercer. I met him in around 1999 when the shop has just moved from Bulungan to Cikini. I was about to pierce my eyebrow. That was the first time I met him. My first impression? Whoa! He was so damn quiet, and too serious for somebody in black costumes and lots of piercings like that. But, apparently, he was always like that when doing his job; piercing. Being professional, maybe. Dunno. He is, actually, a very friendly kinda person. And a very funny one, too! He loves to doodlebug people, and somehow people just love him for that. He is also a very caring person. When I was into something bad, he would talk to me and have me listened to him carefully, as if he is my own brother.

In 2007, if I'm not mistaken, he married Megawati Marbun, a sweet woman he met in the church - at least, that's what he told me. Oh, haven't I told you, Robin is a very religious person? He went to church to pray every Sunday. And even if Noxa had to play in new year's eve, he always asked me to have they played after 10pm because he had to go to the church first. He was also a very good son to his parent. He loved to help his mother in the kitchen sometimes. Sweet. It's even more sweet if you know how he looked like. Ok, let me describe him like this: Metal outfits. Black short pants. New rock shoes. More than 20 piercings. How hardcore could that be?

When he was about to go to Singapore, a few years ago, my sister asked him to buy her Barbie. Yea, I mean it, Barbie the doll! It was funny because I knew that he would be ashame of buying stuff like that in a department store. Not in his style like that, at least. But somehow he did it. He bought my sister a doll, even though he made a mistake, because what he got was Bratz, not Barbie. But still, you know, it was really something. Probably it's as hard as a straight to go to a gay bar. Some kind of.

Robin died of an accident. I don't have to write 'em all here. You can simply google for his name, Robin Hutagaol, and, please, believe me, you'll find thousands of stories about this good man. If you have Facebook account, you can also see his page. You'll see how lovable this guy was. He still is.

Robin Hutagaol.
He's a very nice friend. A very sweet husband. And a very good son.

He is one of a kind.

We all miss you.
Rest in peace, Bin.

Don't You Just Love Soda Ice Cream?

I do. I do love Soda Ice Cream!!

In Surabaya, East Java, ice cream parlour is like everywhere! And what I love about it is that most of the places are selling the ol' skool kind of ice cream. Do you know what kind of ice cream I'm talkin' about? The texture is just different from the nu skool kinda ice cream (e.g. Häagen-Dazs®, Baskin-Robbins, Ben & Jerry, etc.). It's less creamy, and less soft. It's more like ice cream on stick - I mean the texture. And they have typical varieties that most ol' skool ice cream has; mocca, tutti frutti, rum raisin, pistachio, and nougat. Don't expect fancy ones like, e.g., Pralines n' Cream, Jamoca Almond Fudge, or Chocolate Fudge Brownie. You won't find any.

Anyway, back to the Soda Ice Cream. These ice cream parlours in Surabaya, always have Ice Cream Soda in their menu list. Even in some restaurant, they have it in their menu list as well! Oh, wow. I bet Surabaya's weather is too fukken hot so the people are really into Ice Cream Soda? It's good, though. Soda Ice Cream is indeed non-arguably refreshing and delicious!

So, whenever you have time to go to Surabaya, check out those ice cream parlours. Zangrandi and Boncafe are the most well known. Both have terrific ice creams. I usually order Vanilla Soda Ice Cream. You can also try to order their home made slagroom (slagroom is whipped cream, in Netherlands). Zangrandi has their famous signature ice cream, Macedonia, which you might wanna try, too. Omigod. I'm pretty sure that I'm now quite confusing you since I got too many good things to share, eh? No need to worry. Just order 'em all. You will never regret it as the deliciousness will definitely spoil your appetite :)

Grèndèl

Somehow the brand, Grèndèl, sounds like a German's name to me.
Anyway, I found this in front of my GrandMa's house in Surabaya.

Well, there are lotsa local cigarette's brand here in Indonesia, specially from Java. And, oh, take a look at the price! It's written there that it's only 3,975 rupiahs, while most local common cigarette is now sold in around 10,000 rups.
One of my friend, he collects them all (these local cigarettes). Exotic yet unique collection, I personally think. I'll post some more later when I find any other.
